An auto car protection contract might be duplicated at times. In other words, it covers almost the same features and things that were/are part of the warranty provided by the manufacturer. It is important to know that if it happens then the customer would be at loss. You can easily avoid the duplication of new and used car warranties by just playing on a smart. Again, it is no rocket science however it does involves loads of alertness and common sense so that no company providing extended warranties can fool you.

If you want to avoid the duplication of extended auto warranty contracts then you should be educated with the following:

Manufacturer’s warranty

What all is covered under manufacturer warranty and what is the minimum and maximum coverage provided under this contract. Also, make sure you check when the car warranty expires and whether you have purchased it before the actual expiring date.

Extended used car warranties

This is the current scenario and you should be thorough with the contract and have complete information about it. Check for the date of effect of the used auto warranty (usually, it would be immediate right after you bought it). This is where you need to look for the coverage scope and then compare it with the used car auto warranty you have which might be the manufacturer’s warranty.

Warranty coverage

This is what is included in your new car warranty plan and what was covered previously.  Carefully analyze both and look for areas of duplication.

Duration of coverage

If you’re previous or manufacturer’s warranty has not come to an end yet, then ensure you first look for the period of overlap of the two car warranties and check if both are offering same features for that specific period.

Duplication of auto car protection policies is common in both new and used cars. You need to be extremely careful when investing in a new warranty policy. You can easily avoid this and save yourself from paying twice for similar services. Be alert and read documents carefully before signing the agreement.
